The Maison Carrée before restoration

In 2000, the Fondation Internationale pour les Monuments Romains de Nîmes commissioned the Architect-in-Chief of Historic Monuments, Jean-François Grange-Chavanis, to draft a preliminary study for the restoration of the facades of the Maison Carrée. The results indicated damage caused by air pollution, natural erosion and human activities.
