Quilted bedspread, nineteenth century

Nîmes became the third largest centre for textiles in the eighteenth century after Paris and Lyons. Cloth and fashion became spread motifs, as is shown by this quilted work in Jouay style, decorated with images of the ancient monuments of the South of France.
